I'm planning a trip to England and I need a list of specific things to see in Liverpool. I already have a bunch of things I could see in London, but I'm having trouble finding things to see in Liverpool on my own. I appreciate your answer, even if it's only one thing or place. Thank you so much. =)

Oh dear, Stephen J doesn't know too much about Liverpool, I fear. the original Cavern Club where The Beatles played was rather thoughtlessly demolished and the current version is a tourist-trap replica. Avoid. Things to see in Liverpool: Albert Dock, the Pierhead Group of buildings (best seen from a Mersey ferry), Maritime Museum, Walker Art Gallery, St George's Hall, The Vines pub on Lime St., The Philharmonic pub on Hope St., the rather slick, brand new but basically identikit Liverpool One shopping area if you like that sort of thing, Bold Street for rather more individual shopping, Chinatown, Sefton Park Palm House, John Lennon's boyhood home (totally authentic), The Bluecoat School, both Cathedrals, St James' Cemetery behind the Anglican Cathedral (don't miss the Huskisson Memorial, to the victim of the world's first public railway accident) and E. Chambre Hardman's house and studio. That'll do for starters. you may not be interested in all of these things but it's worth Googling them to see what you like.

Very Little Céline, most cities outside of London don't have much to see specifically, but Liverpool is a lovely place, it has very old buildings and an amazing waterfront, it has a unique accent, lovely locals, great shopping. The only real attractions are Anfield (Football ground) and the various attractions linked to the Beatles.

Chester is near by to Liverpool, that is a very Old (Roman) city which is much more interesting, you could spend a few hours in each?

Follow David F's advice.

Pubs are indeed part of the culture. I do miss them a lot. And yes, today's Cavern is a rip off.

I would add that I've been there twice on Beatles pilgrimages!! So I would recommend the Beatles museum on the Docks and the Magical History Tour (Beatles places tour in a Magical Mystery Tour bus), even if the locals look at you like a monkey in a zoo (YOU are the monkey, not them!), but what the hell, you're looking at History.

more museums theatres and art galleries than anywhere in the UK outside London - and most are free.

Waterfront is a UNESCO world heritage site with magnificent buildings, docks, canal link and the famous mersey ferries.

Sport is wellcatered for with 2 premiership footballteams

Echo arena has a wide selection of eventsshows and gigs.

as do the theatres

Shopping is excellent and much cheaper than down south.

two modern cathedrals (one of which is the biggest in the UK) and morelisted buildings than anywhere else outside london
