I suspect not. It's an archaic word, and if the scouser is an object, a material it can hardly be the other two you suggest. I suspect too, that any native of Liverpool would argue the question.



In this Country "Scour" is the similer in context, and certainly many get scoured by Gypsies, tramps and thieves.

I think I can hear the sound of a can of worms being opened. Liverpool is one of the safest Metropolitan areas in the country in terms of street crime, which I'm sure is what you mean. Having said this we're not perfect, of course all major cities have thier chav (or the Liverpoolism "scals") elemnt. Yet, if you ever visit Liverpool, you'll find the people the friendliest in the country.

a scouser is a person who comes from Liverpool, like John Lennon, who is no vagabond or thief.

you can not say "all" or "none", "always" or "never" when talking about people and be correct.
