The real answer is too long to attempt and you know that so you're looking for amusing one liners?

In short we're an island with a large land mass to the east, large land masses store solar radiation as heat better than islands. The temp of the seas surrounding us keeps the air temps in the UK cooler. The large body of water to the west provides plenty of water vapour to rise and become clouds, the air movements bring the water filled clouds from the west and the change in temperature/pressure of a land mass Ireland then the west coast causes the clouds to empty.

If you don't like rain move to the east it falls less often, but you'd better like the cold becuase it's colder here than the west.

We have a maritime climate, surrounded by sea and too far north! I have a cunning plan to tow the British Isles nearer to the equator, or somewhere in the south pacific... I just need a really big boat.... Anyone fancy helping me?

I really don't know the answer. With all the rain we've had there is still going to be a hosepipe ban on because it's the wrong type of rain! Cheer up.... it can only get better.

Because, British summertime is almost non-existent! Give it chance though, it's only just become June, it might be nicer in August.

Its not. Comparatively speaking.

Given Britain's latitude, if it were elsewhere on earth it would be winter for 11 months of the year!
